The Water Board Building was designed by architect Louis Kamper and located just off Campus Martius Park in downtown Detroit. At street level, the triangular shaped building has simple, yet beautiful details – but the terra cotta details at the top are really the icing on this architectural cake. As one can see, at the right time of the day the gold glazing catches the light and can be seen all over the downtown area.
I just recently viewed some materials at the Detroit Public Library about the murals within the building – all scenes relating to water with imagery dating back to the Native Americans. BEAUTIFUL!
